How to Be Disruptive with Print Advertising in a Digital World

Is print advertising still a viable option in the digital age that we now live? That's a great question that Michael Pontikos will help to answer at DOYO Live. While DOYO is a digital marketing event, it's also about interactive design. Design that includes branding, elegant, responsive, eye catching design that makes a person stop what they are doing and pay attention.

A business success is predicated upon finding where there's disruption, in fact integrating a digital strategy with a print campaign, done right, can be a highly effective way to be complimentary of one another. And not just complimentary but be disruptive to gain traction with new followers online and generate enough interest to grow a business. Michael Pontikos brings 20 years of branding and design experience to DOYO live. After graduating from Bowling Green with an International Business degree and an MBA in Marketing from YSU, he knew that he wanted to start his own branding agency. Not knowing anything about programming or design, he took quite a few trips (and spent quite a few dollars!) to the local Barnes & Noble to figure out how to do it himself. He started his first branding agency in 1996 to help regional companies, at first with web site design but then started to develop integrated marketing communication campaigns to help his clients tell their story, not just online, but in print as well .
With his tenacity, love of design and entrepreneurial spirit that he learned from his Greek immigrant grandfather, he was able to build his client list and developed award winning campaigns for companies raging from international perfume makers to regional start ups. His list of clients included Youngstown State University, Milsek Furniture Polish, Packer Thomas Accounting, Burgan Real Estate, Kiss & Tell Fragrance and Warren Fabricating & Machining and many more.
Along with his branding consultancy, Michael is also an instructor of Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations at YSU's Williamson College of Business Administration. His courses cover Integrated Marketing Communication Campaigns, Creative Strategies, Media Buying & Planning, Public Relations and Marketing Concepts. He is also the advisor to the YSU collegiate chapter of the American Advertising Federation better known as Ads Club.
Michael is a die hard Cleveland Indians fan and will talk baseball to just about anyone who will listen and has three awesome kids. Taylor is a recent fashion merchandising grad from the Fashion Institute in NYC and currently working as a freelance social media & content marketer (imagine that!!). Alec is a freshman Comm Major/Advertising Minor at YSU (no really, I had no influence!) and Bailey will be attending Pace University in NYC in the fall majoring in Entrepreneurship (wonder where she got that from!).


DOYO Live is a digital marketing + interactive design conference being held in Youngstown, Ohio on August 4, 2016 at YSU's Williamson College of Business. This event will feature Joe Pulizzi as the keynote speaker and Nate Riggs. Additionally there will be 15 breakout sessions dedicated to educating marketing, business, design and sales professionals on marketing strategy.
